Part 1- Equipment resources planning and management
Based on successful establishment of Disneyland theme park and resorts on a large reclaimed land from sea in Hong Kong, a similar development has been planned in another Asian country (i.e., through dredging based land reclamation from sea). Assume a main role for planning and managing equipment requirements in this new theme park development.
i. Identify key equipment resources required for land reclamation sub-contract project, which is one of the main sub-projects of the theme park infrastructure development
ii. Prepare Equipment Control Classes and Equipment Control Levels based Equipment Control Matrix as well as a basic Equipment Management Process Maturity Model for your dredging works
iii. Answer any ONE of the following:
(a) Prepare basic (Level 1) estimates of duration and costs of employing one key equipment resource in this project
(b) Using the Dependency Structure Matrix, resolve the dependency-based complexity challenge in the following scenario:
Part 2 – Set of Tasks for Group project part 2
1. Compare the two projects included in SET1-Track1 compressed folder using the tools available in Primavera P6 and prepare your report describing the similarities and differences among these two projects
2. You are required to Import the project (Xer file) in SET2-Track 2 compressed folder
a. Schedule all activities in this project after: (i) increasing the activity duration of “MN2070 Install Ceiling Grid” by 5 days (i.e. instead of 15 days increase this to 20) and (ii) reducing the activity duration of “MN2130 Install Floor and Carpeting” by 3 days (i.e. instead of 7 days reduce this to 10).
Prepare your report with details of early start, early finish, late start, late finish, total float for all activities in this project
b. Identify resource over-loading (if any), carry out levelling; Prepare your reports before and after levelling
c. Assess the progress on 1st December 2011 and prepare your report (e.g. using Visualizer tool) to include details of following for each activity:
i. Cost Variance and Cost Performance Index
ii. Schedule Variance and Schedule Performance Index
iii. Earned Value and Planned Value
iv. Estimate to Complete
v. Your interpretations of the above monitoring observations along you’re your suggestions for relevant project control measures
3. For this Project extracted from SET2-Track 1, you are required to:
a. Identify key issues (at least 3) and build Issues Log for tracking and managing issues.
b. Identify key risks (at least 3) and create Risk Register with details of suitable pre-mitigation and post-mitigation information.
