Developmental milestones are skills that most children can do at a certain age. Early childhood educators and parents should know developmental milestones, ways to support development, and when to seek additional support in order to promote healthy development in children. This project requires you to research this information for four different domains of learning. You will discover developmental milestones for different ages of infants and toddlers.

1.      Domain: Select the domain for the assignment from the following:

a.      Cognitive Development – includes learning, thinking, and problem-solving skills

2.      Developmental Milestones: Enter 3 age-appropriate developmental milestones for each age on the chart. The developmental milestones are for the domain of the assignment. For example, a developmental milestone for physical development is walking at 12 months.

3.      Developmental Warning Sign: Enter 1 developmental warning sign or red flag for each age on the chart. These are things children do or cannot do that mean a developmental delay is possible. If teachers or parents see these things, they should seek additional support for the child. The warning sign should be for the domain of the assignment. For example, a physical development warning sign may be not walking by 18 months.

4.      Strategy to Promote Development: Enter 1 way that educators and/or parents can promote healthy development for that domain for each age on the chart.

5.      Sources: List all the sources that you used to complete the Developmental Checklist Template. Sources should be professional sources from reputable websites, journals, etc. Reputable websites typically end in .gov, .edu, .org, and .us.
