Assignment Task

3Dprinting

Students will identify, research, and present an emerging technology for use in education. Technologies can include hardware, software, and/or other digital structures. These technologies can include those already available for the classroom or technologies that are still in development. The presentation should address aspects of technology use in the classroom such as pedagogy, safety, privacy, ethics, and quality. A reference list with appropriate academic sources is essential.

Criteria

  • Demonstrates thoughtful engagement with concepts and issues related to technology as discussed in this unit (35%).
  • Clearly describes the technology and the potential educational use case and supports it using appropriate sources both from the unit and more broadly (35%).
  • Logical, compelling progression of ideas in presentation; clear structure and design which enhances and showcases the central idea or theme (20%).
  • Presents information and ideas effectively (e.g. register, grammar, punctuation, spelling and referencing) using APA 7th edition (10%).

Technical Requirements:

  • Description: Describe the technology in familiar terminology; it should be comprehendible by your peers.
  • Pedagogy: Use either SAMR of PIC/RAT and classify the technology. Avoid broadly stating the classification of the technology to either the SAMR of PIC/RAT frameworks.
  • Design: Discuss the design of the technology; you may consider Mayer Principles of Multimedia Design or other design theories such as the ADDIE or SAM model.
  • Quality: Describe the quality of the technology. Consider technological affordances, ease of use, interactivity, safety and privacy.
  • Implementation: Describe how you see this technology being implemented in the (future) classroom. Ensure that you provide context with reference to a discipline area selected (i.e. mathematics, science,).

Addresses learning outcomes

Evaluate existing technologies and their potential for integration into learning contexts; Recognise relevant issues and understand strategies available to support the safe, responsible, and ethical use of technologies (including ICT) in learning and teaching.
